OUR SAINTS STORY

Founded in 1988, our Saints Netball Club was formed by a group of local mothers from St Mary St Joseph Primary School, Maroubra Bay. Not only did they want their daughters to play netball, the Mothers were keen to play themselves. Cathy Cairns was the founding secretary of the club.

In that first year of competition, the club entered two junior teams, and one senior team and the players wore pink shirts and bottle green skirts, resembling watermelons.

Saints draws from many schools in the local and broader Eastern Suburbs communities. It is the home of many top netball players and encourages fair play, good sportsmanship and quality competition.

In 1997, the club introduced the Spirit of Saints trophy. This is an annual award for the player (or team) who has displayed courage and determination during the year.

In the past, 19 Saints players have been selected to represent the Randwick Netball Association - Cherie Covell, Natalie Giles, Lauren Coyle, Joanne Papanaketis (State Champions 1998, 1999 and 2000), Rachel Disalvo, Madison DiSalvo, Jessica Lewis, Elise Hill, Jessica Solberg, Kate Belcher, Erin Chaple, Stevana Guerrero, Simone Kaissis, Madeleine McCathie, Emma Smith, Lisa Jennings, Jessica Lasky, Taylor Monk and Jessica Thornton.

Gabi Simpson, a 2009 A Grade player with the Saints Club, has been selected to represent NSW in the 17's team and has also been selected to be part of the Australian 17's squad.

Today, our club continues to grow and thrive with over 20 teams in 2021

We look forward to growing more shining stars in the coming years and welcome new players to our club.
